Urological cancers can occur in a great many different organs. Such as the prostate, bladder, kidneys and testicles. Among these diseases the cancer we see most frequently is prostate cancer.

Are you worried about being protected from cancer? There are a great many studies and recommendations about how the risks of developing types of urological cancer can be reduced. There are a few established and proven studies that can reduce the risk of developing cancer. However, unfortunately, if there is a genetic component there is no way of definitely preventing the disease.

It is important to understand that not all cancers are the same and that each type of cancer generally arises from the risk of genetic predisposition. Studies continue to be carried out in order to better define the risk factors that cause cancer.

Ways of Being Protected From Bladder Cancer

There is no way of definitely preventing bladder cancer. There are certain risk factors that cannot be intervened in, such as race, sex and age. However, there may be things you can do that can help to reduce your risk.

No known supplement or vitamin has been proven to be effective in the prevention of bladder cancer.

Quit smoking: it is estimated that cigarette consumption causes 50% of all bladder cancer cases.

Avoid chemicals: those working in industries that use certain chemicals have a higher risk of bladder cancer. The rubber, leather, printing materials, textile and paint industries are examples of these. Those working in these places need to adhere strictly to occupational safety practices.

Consume plenty of fluid: it has been proven that taking in plenty of fluid (mostly water) is effective in preventing the development of bladder cancer.

Eat plenty of vegetables and fruit: some research shows that the consumption of fruit and vegetables can help in being protected from bladder cancer.

Ways of Being Protected From Kidney Cancer

Kidney cancer is sometimes associated with a genetic predisposition, but can frequently be attributed to smoking and other currently unknown risk factors.

It is recommended that you follow certain guidelines in order to be protected from kidney cancer. You will need to make some lifestyle changes in order to keep kidney health at a good level.

Quit smoking: smoking increases the risk of developing kidney cancer. For healthy kidneys you must first of all give up cigarette consumption.

Regulate your weight: excess weight can give rise to the risk of developing kidney cancer. Excess weight leads to changes in hormones such as insulin, causing blood sugar levels to rise and the kidneys to be damaged.

The best way to lose weight or maintain a healthy weight is to follow a diet rich in fruit, vegetables and wholegrain cereals. Exercising for a minimum of 30 minutes during the day can also help you to slim down.

Keep your blood pressure balanced: high blood pressure, also called hypertension, can increase the risk of kidney cancer. One way of controlling blood pressure in order to be protected from kidney cancer is to maintain a healthy weight through diet and exercise.

Avoid chemicals: exposure to industrial minerals and chemicals such as asbestos and cadmium has been associated with the risk of kidney cancer. In order to be protected from cancer it is recommended that such chemicals be avoided.

Take good care of your kidneys: the risk of kidney cancer is higher in people whose general kidney health is poor.

Ways of Being Protected From Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer has from time to time been linked to a high-fat diet. Approximately 15% to 20% of prostate cancer can be associated with a genetic predisposition.

If you have concerns about your risk of prostate cancer, the prevention of prostate cancer may be of interest to you.

It should be known that prostate cancer is a "disease of ageing". As you get older, your risk of cancer forming in your prostate increases.

Race and genetics also play an important role in the development of prostate cancer. If your father, your brother or more than one of your relatives has prostate cancer, the likelihood of you having it too is higher.

If you have these risk factors, preventing prostate cancer can be difficult. However, early diagnosis helps to ensure that, in the event that you develop cancer, the cancer is treated as soon as possible.

Eat healthily: a habitual poor nutrition routine can lead to the development of cancer in a person. Even those already at high risk because of age, race or genetics can reduce their likelihood of developing prostate cancer by adopting healthy diets and lifestyles.

In order to be protected from prostate cancer;

  • Reduce fat intake
  • Consume more fruit and vegetables
  • Consume green tea
  • Soya
  • Avoid excessively fried meat

Keep your weight at a balanced level: obesity can be a risk factor for the development of more aggressive prostate cancer. Maintaining a healthy weight as you get older helps you to reduce your risk of cancer and many other health problems.

Exercise: as well as helping you to reach a healthy weight, exercise can reduce inflammation in the body and improve immune function. All of these can help to prevent cancer.

Quit smoking: quitting smoking improves your health in many ways, including reducing your risk of cancer.

Take vitamin D: vitamin D can help in being protected from prostate cancer. Because the sun is an easily accessible source of vitamin D, exposure to the sun for 10 minutes every day is recommended.

Check your sexual routine: two different studies show that men with a higher frequency of ejaculation are two-thirds more fortunate in terms of the risk of prostate cancer. According to unproven studies, it is suggested that ejaculation clears toxins and other substances that can cause inflammation from the body.

Ways of Being Protected From Testicular Cancer

In the great majority of testicular cancer cases there is no known risk factor. Certain known risk factors such as an undescended testicle remaining from infancy, white race and a family history of the disease cannot be prevented.

In cases of undescended testicle, the correction of cryptorchidism is recommended. In this way the risk of the child developing testicular cancer in the future is reduced.

It is not possible to list clear recommendations for being protected from testicular cancer. However, performing a testicular self-examination once a month serves to detect testicular cancer. In this way treatment can be started at an early stage.

If you have genetics and a family history in the development of cancer, have examinations frequently for the early diagnosis of cancer.
