OBJECTIVE: To evaluate whether renal parenchymal thickness (RPT) has an effect on the outcomes of percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PNL). METHODS: We performed a retrospective analysis of 144 patients with lower pole and/or renal pelvic stones who underwent PNL. The relationship between RPT and peri- and postoperative measures was evaluated. RESULTS: The average age was 45.94 ± 14.47 (15-76) years. The mean BMI was calculated as 27.47 ± 4.73 (16.9-44.9) kg/m(2). The mean stone burden was 293 ± 126 (150-800 mm(2)). The mean RPT was measured as 17.33 ± 5.32 (6-35) mm. No correlation was detected bet...

Primary renal lymphoma is a controversial and rare disease. There is no agreement whether or not it is an initial manifestation of a rapidly systemic disease. Most reported cases are questionable because of incomplete staging and lack of autopsy studies. Herein, we present a 71-year-old woman, initially diagnosed with primary non-Hodgkin lymphoma of the kidney, but was lost 4 months after radical nephrectomy due to systemic disease despite aggressive chemotherapy, and suggest that, the kidney of the patient was the initial presenting site of a rapidly progressive systemic disease.

Duplex collecting systems are the most commonly encountered anomaly of the urinary system. Complete duplex system with an H shaped ureter is a very rare situation. There are only two reported H ureter cases in the literature. Herein, we aimed to present an H shaped ureter case, which was identified while performing ureterorenoscopy to a 48-year-old female patient due to a right distal ureteral stone.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a common problem among elderly men. Recently, laser prostate enucleations have gained popularity with successful results; however, it requires steep learning curves. The initial 60 cases of ThuLEP performed at our centre were retrospectively enrolled. A 200 W CyberTM Thulium laser (Quanta System, Italy) with 550 µm fibre was used, and a single surgeon highly experienced with transurethral resection performed all procedures. Patients were divided into three consecutive groups. Preoperative variables such as prostate volume, prostate-specific antigen and hae...

Eur Urol Open Sci May 2021 Vol. 27: 73-76 DOI PubMed
Özeti Göster

We report on a pediatric case of hemorrhagic cystitis due to BK virus in a patient with acute lymphoblastic leukemia who had undergone bone marrow transplantation. A very large hematoma that almost completely filled the bladder was aspirated using a morcellator via suprapubic percutaneous access, and a thulium laser was then used to cauterize extensive areas of diffuse uroepithelial bleeding. This combined minimally invasive procedure was successful in clearing the bladder hematoma and achieving hemostasis.
